Screens (Main Menu / Setup / Store / Other / Screens)

 

 

Overview

 

The Screens Dialog is used for creating custom screens for use at the point of sale. A maximum of 100 screens per store can be created. Each screen can have up to 72 single sized buttons. Size, position, appearance, functionality and security are all configurable. Screens can be unique or uniform across stores.

 

Rule of Thumb - Use as many screens as you need, but no more than you need. Use colors to group like buttons for easy identification. Keep font sizes consistent for easier readability.

 

 

Actions

 

Find - Displays a list of screens to choose from. (see Find Dialog)

 

Edit - Edits the current screen and activates the button options.

 

Save - Saves changes to the current screen.

 

Cancel - Cancels the current operation.

 

Close - Closes the form.

 

Help - Displays the help menu (see Help Menu).

 

Tool Tips - Hover the mouse cursor over any field descriptor to display a brief description.

 Store Selection

 

Displays a store selection dialog.

 

 Copy Store Screens

 

Copies the screens for the currently selected store to the clipboard.

 

 Paste Store Screens

 

Pastes the screens stored in the clipboard to the currently selected store.

 

Screen - Select a screen (1-100) by pressing the up/down arrows.

 

Title - A screen title for easy association when editing screens.

 

 Camera

 

Toggles the cart-camera on or off. The cart camera will occupy the top left four button positions.

 

 Columns

 

Toggles column separators between columns 2-3 and 6-7 on or off.

 

 Reset

 

Resets all buttons on the current screen to their default.

 

Button - Select a specific button position. (1-72). Buttons are numbered left to right, top to bottom.

 

Function - Select a function from the drop down list for the button to perform when pressed.

Security - Assign a security level required to access the button between 1 and 9 (1 being the lowest and 9 the highest).

 

Macro - The keystrokes played back to the application when the button is pressed. See Keyboard Mapping for a list of all key macros.

 

  Modifier

 

Used to display possible function modifiers when applicable.

 

Visible - The Visible check box is used to define whether or not the button is visible.

 

Button Text - The actual text (20 characters) displayed on the button.

 

 Bold

 

The Bold button toggles the Bold attribute for the current button on or off.

 

 Color

 

The Color button toggles the text color for the current button between black and white.

 

Shape - Buttons can be any of 4 shapes. Select between single, double wide, double high or double wide, double high.

 (Depending on the position of the current button, some shapes may not be available.)

 

 

 

 

Number Pad

Inserts a number pad at the current button position.

(Depending on the position of the current button, the number pad may not be available.)

 

Surface - Select the surface color for the current button by pressing one of the surface buttons.

 

 

Tools:

 

 Font Up

 

Increases the font size for the current button.

 

 Font Down

 

Decreases the font size for the current button.

 

 Swap

 

Toggles swap mode on or off. When on it swaps the next two buttons clicked.

Note: Swap does not change the button shapes of the buttons being swapped.

 

 Copy / Paste

 

Toggles the Copy / Paste mode on or off. Pressing the button when it displays the word "Copy" will cause the button attributes to be copied to the clipboard and then change the button to display the word "Paste". The attributes copied are button color, font color and font size. While in Paste mode all subsequent button presses will copy the contents of the clipboard to be copied to the button pressed.

 

 Hide

 

Toggles the Hide mode on or off. When the Hide mode is on all subsequent buttons pressed will be hidden. Once a button is hidden you must select the button from the button number selector and then click the Visible check box to make it reappear.

 

 Clear

 

Toggles the Clear mode on or off. When the Clear mode is on all subsequent buttons pressed will be cleared to their defaults.
